Winton
Winton welcomed its first settlers in 1875 and was the inspiration for the writing of Waltzing Matilda as well as the birthplace of Qantas. The area is also home to the working cattle and sheep property of Carisbrooke Station, the boulder opal fields at Opalton, and the Lark Quarry dinosaur remains. If you’re looking for the real Australian outback experience, this fascinating region is as close as you can get. Tour highlights Stockman’s Hall of Fame
